Day 30 of 40 – Thou shalt face your demons

Thou shalt face your demons is Rirou’s favorite punk rule, and in fact that was Rirou’s true essence of his coaching back in the days. That is what made him a good coach.

After Luke was born Rirou indeed wanted to share his coaching but Rirou is different, he likes to keep it real. Which can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Rirou always said to his athlete before an ironman: “You will face all your demons during the race”, yes an odd thing to say, especially before a race like an ironman. However, that is the truth, an ironman is a race that can take from 8 to 17 hours, and that leaves you 8 to 17 hours with just you and your thoughts. So, by all means you will face your demons.

Every time Rirou have one of those WTF moments in therapy he says “oh shit, that is so fucked up” and they laugh. If you ever been to therapy you know most therapist don’t laugh, but with Rirou was always different. He made made her laugh because he saw how ironic it was that he was trapped in him own matrix. Those ironies of life made him laugh, and that week Rirou had another WTF moment. He was getting ready to face his biggest demons.

The COVID-420, a 40 day full introspection was preparing him to face his biggest demons. Rirou had face many of his demons during his 18 ironmans, but not he was getting to the bottom on how he felt all this time.

The shit is deep, and the reality is you can’t run away otherwise the shit gets deeper. You have to face it. We all have our sets of demons, and the secret for happiness is to face them. That is the 4th punk rule!

Day 28 of 40 – Always look at the bright side of life

One thing Rirou learned in life through out his case of the Mondays was, to look at the bright side of life. After the priest accused Rirou for smoking too much weed, and said that his soul was going to burn in a lake of fire for the rest of eternity; Rirou did the only thing he knew to do, he decided to challenged the status quo.

Rirou went skateboarding and decided to try marijuana, and he end up having the biggest spiritual experience of his life. Plus that day he skate like he had never skate before. Seems like he was possessed to skate, but the most important part of that experience was that Rirou though what if the devil is like the Tasmanian devil cartoon? completely crazy, energetic, intense, with a sense of humor and a big heart? what if hell is a place with lost of rock and roll, beer, weed and skateboarding?

On that same night Rirou went to a punk rock concert at the beach, and he got to the mosh pit, and he never felt so alive in his life. That experience blew Rirou’s mind. After the show Rirou lay down at the beach and looked to the moon and thought “Well I guess I am going to hell in all Religions, so maybe the devil and I can become friends”.

Rirou kept that for himself, and he did what he was thought to and buried his feelings, the good, the bad and the ugly feelings. With time and therapy Rirou started to realize that maybe people were just afraid to feel good. He knew he was afraid to feel good, after all, that was a sin (based of the collective matrix), but Rirou realized that there is another side of the story, so he thought if Religion claims to have the truth, and there is another side of the story; therefore Religion can easily be lying.

So, what if there is no sin? If life is how you feel, and in order to feel joy you also need feel the rest (the good, the bad and the ugly), is just part of life. During the ironman cozumel in 2011 Rirou was the marathon part, and he was in hell. Literally, it had rain and it was 95 featherweights, and smoke was coming out of the asphalt. Rirou was in bad shape and his mind was going crazy; with the angel telling him to stop, but Taz (the devil) showed up that day and whispered “you should face the pain and keep going”. Rirou started to run again and he had another insight and thought “If I keep running at 8 min pace I will finish faster and pain will end quick. If I keep walking at 16 min pace the pain is the same but it will take me double the time to finish, and if I quit the pain (a different kind of pain) will least even longer.” So he ran and finish the race as his second best Ironman time ever.

Rirou realized that day that the devil was his friend after all. That day Rirou realized it does not matter in how much shit you are in, there is always a bright side. It all depends on how you look at it, and Rirou was right when in hell become friends with the devil and from that day on, Rirou started to look at the bright side of life.

Does not matter how much shit you are in, there is always a bright side to it, even if it is a lesson. And that is the Rock-it-ology second punk rule!

Feel Good,

Rirou

Day 27 of 40 – Thou shalt not be an asshole

Rirou’s walk through the COVID – 420 isolation continues to get deeper and deeper. When Rirou had the commandments insight he need to elaborate more, and thankfully being a smart ass is still allowed; otherwise he would have to shut up for the rest of his life. Yes, sarcasm and irreverence is a form of self defense, something Rirou learned very early on to protect his energy. Since been a smart ass is still allowed in his Religion, Rirou wanted to call punk rules instead of commandments, since that is much more ironic.

The reality is at one point in life we are all assholes, because is impossible to please everyone. When Rirou created his first Religion, the ganja witness he was indeed being an asshole, but that religion went bankrupted. Rirou thought he was the only person in the world that bankrupted a Religion, but then he remembered a guy once bankrupted a casino and became president. So, Rirou thought maybe he can president one day, who knows? But the way Rirou is, he would probably want to created his own country, like the Vatican. Yeah, maybe one day Rock-it-ology will have their own country, but for now Rirou is happy with a Religion.

Any ways, back to the first punk rule, “Thou shalt not be an asshole”, is quite a simple rule. The most important part is not being an asshole with thyself, which reflects in the outside (inside matrix is connected with the outside), but also not being an asshole with the the little things in life. Those little things will be address in the not so fashion show section on “how not to be an asshole”, that goes together with the interviews on the “a case of the Mondays” on the same show.

The goal in life is to develop beyond the stage of an asshole!

Mean while the collective matrix is going crazy, as of now there is a possibility that a conspiracy theory might no longer be a theory. With the mass confusion due to the Corona Virus assholes are coming to light and showing their assholeness, and seems like Facebook is the new civil war…

Feel Good,

Rirou

Day 26 of 40 – Who made who?

Who made who? That is the question that nobody can answer, and on the day 26 of Rirou’s COVID-19 isolation, he was contemplating about that question. After all the collective matrix was going to an existential crisis due to the corona virus, well that is what seems like it. Maybe was just Rirou, but anyways if everything happens for a reason it must be have a reason why a Punk was born.

Rirou didn’t know who made who, well nobody really knows, but he knew one thing: how he felt, and rock was the number #1 that made him feel good. However, hidden forces were trying to say that was wrong.

When Rirou was about 12 years old, the Pope prohibit Iron Maiden to play in Chile and Rirou got mad and called the pope an asshole and got in trouble. Later on when Rirou was about 15 he went his Religious teacher (he studied in a Catholic School) and asked him why he felt more connect when he was surfing or skateboarding and not when I was at Church (we were obligated to attend mass in school). His answers was: “I think you are smoking too much weed!” Rirou was shocked! First because he haven’t even tried marijuana on that time, and second he was just looking for comfort for the emotional issues that I was dealing with. Not satisfied the asshole, I mean the “priest” added: “You are most likely going to hell with your music taste!”. Yeah, he said that for a 15 year old kid. After that day the power of irreverence just grew on Rirou.

Rirou always loved to contemplate about life he was contemplating a lot during this period, and he likes to contemplate during his walks with Bolt. Rirou takes the dog out for a walk daily around 4:20, and walks around listening to the birds and looking up to the sky. During that day Rirou realized that rock-it-ology needed some commandments.

Yes, it was 4:20 and no Rirou was not burning the bush during his walk. Yeah, Colorado is legal but people just don’t walk around smoking weed on the streets, and no Rirou did not find a talking bush. However, those walks in the afternoon align with the silence in the streets Rirou was having great insights. That day Rirou stopped and looked at the sky and had an insight. He finally figure it out the commandments.

Rirou is fascinated with numbers, after all he was sure that we lived in a matrix. Now everything made sense since he had found the 3 spiritual laws, and now he figured it out the 7 commandments. The funny thing is that in numerology the number 3 means: Energy of kindness, creativity and joy; and the number 7 remind us that the answers to all questions is in our DNA.

Rirou’s mind just blew it, so he rushed home and wrote in down before the 7 commandments before he forgets, and here they are:

  • Thou shalt not be an asshole
  • Always look at the bright side of life
  • Inclusion is not rocket science
  • Thou shalt face your demons
  • Thou shalt not judge
  • Unfashion thyself
  • Thou shalt eat and train like you give a f*ck

To be continued….

Day 25 of 40 – Something to believe in

Monday April 6th Rirou woke up with and again not another case of the Mondays. This COVID-19 isolation was great for Rirou, he took the time to go within and now things were more clear than ever.

Rirou always believed we all got something to learn and something to teach, and that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we don’t know why and we have to find out or sometimes we know exactly why. That goes for all of us, no exception, is just part of life. The key is to learn in every situation, at least that was Rirou’s goal after every Ironman. Funny because an Ironman race is 90% mental and 10% physical, different than training. Training is 90% physical and 10% mental. For Rirou every Ironman was a mental battle with big life lessons.

During those Ironmans Rirou decoded 3 spiritual laws that helped him escape his matrix:

  • 1st, Accept it: That is probably the most important one. Like an Ironman, life is challenging and once you sign up you know it will be hard. Same with life, once you are born you know it will have challenges, and it’s not that is good or bad, it is what it is.
  • 2nd, Face it: The truth is the shit is big and you can’t run away. You have to face it, cause if you don’t the demons will only get bigger and bigger. So, we must face our demons. Rirou always said, when in hell become friends with the Devil.
  • 3rd, Rock it: This is the most simple rule, but the most difficult: Listen to your heart and stay true to yourself. Yes, that is all it takes to Rock in life and that is what Rock means to Rirou.
Rirou received this album when he was 18 years old from his Band mate. Another mind blown moment for Rirou when was going through his crisis in 2015, and this album pop up in pandora radio during one of his long runs.

Rirou took the lessons learned during his Ironman period and now he was using in many different levels to escape his own matrix. Those 3 spiritual laws are the base of Rock-it-ology.

Feel Good,

Rirou
