Day 32 of 40 – Unfashion Thyself

The #6 punk rules unfashion thyself is the most punk rule of all, it’s simple and very efficient. And no, it has nothing to do with clothing, well maybe a little bit, but not entirely. Unfashion yourself is more about an attitude than anything else.

Rirou was always about attitude, like you wanna do something go for it. Many considered radical, and it is, but it works. Rirou claim if he was not radical he would not have never achieved what he did. He might be probably right on that, life is about attitude, and that Rirou had a lot.

The attitude is simple, is basically going after of what made you feel good. Quite simple, but the collective matrix teaches you fake it until you make it. It is just like this:

Feeling good is NOT about perfection, is quite the opposite. Feeling good is doing stuff with purpose, and a purpose for you. Not to impress anyone expect you. Yes, it is all about you, because life it is how you feel. However, that does not give you the right to be an asshole. Always remember the first punk rule.

The attitude is simple; be real. Sounds simple, but being real comes with the good, the bad and the ugly and most people cannot handle that. That is why “quick fix” sells like water. We all know quick fixes don’t work and that real solutions is painful, but if you want to escape the matrix you have to go through the pain. Like Rirou said to all his clients, the demons and the dark side are your teachers.

During this COVID-420 quarantine Rirou was unfashion himself more and more and the punk force was just growing on him… Like master Yoda once said “Do or Do not, there is no try.”

Feel Good,

Rirou

Day 30 of 40 – Thou shalt face your demons

Thou shalt face your demons is Rirou’s favorite punk rule, and in fact that was Rirou’s true essence of his coaching back in the days. That is what made him a good coach.

After Luke was born Rirou indeed wanted to share his coaching but Rirou is different, he likes to keep it real. Which can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Rirou always said to his athlete before an ironman: “You will face all your demons during the race”, yes an odd thing to say, especially before a race like an ironman. However, that is the truth, an ironman is a race that can take from 8 to 17 hours, and that leaves you 8 to 17 hours with just you and your thoughts. So, by all means you will face your demons.

Every time Rirou have one of those WTF moments in therapy he says “oh shit, that is so fucked up” and they laugh. If you ever been to therapy you know most therapist don’t laugh, but with Rirou was always different. He made made her laugh because he saw how ironic it was that he was trapped in him own matrix. Those ironies of life made him laugh, and that week Rirou had another WTF moment. He was getting ready to face his biggest demons.

The COVID-420, a 40 day full introspection was preparing him to face his biggest demons. Rirou had face many of his demons during his 18 ironmans, but not he was getting to the bottom on how he felt all this time.

The shit is deep, and the reality is you can’t run away otherwise the shit gets deeper. You have to face it. We all have our sets of demons, and the secret for happiness is to face them. That is the 4th punk rule!

Feel Good,

Rirou

Day 29 of 40 – Inclusion is not Rocket science

Inclusion is something that runs very strong in Rirou something that punk rock brought it to him. Rirou always felt better in punk rock concerts because seemed like people were more real, without a mask, and that became stronger after Luke was born.

Rirou first solo experience at a park in Florida with Luke was quite interesting. At the park a group from a church was doing a picnic and everyone was starring at them and saying things. Rirou didn’t give a shit and continue to have fun with Luke, after all that was not the first time that something like that happened. It’s just ironic.

Last year Rirou did an advocacy course and he learned that by law Religion did NOT have to obey the ADA regulations and make Churches accessible. How ironic, Religion claims to teach love and the actions are completely opposite. The collective matrix is so ironically funny.

Rirou did not understand that, after all inclusion is not rocket science, is actually quite simple and like one athlete that he coached said once: “We all got challenges, the difference is that you see mine.” He is an Olympic para triathlete. Is that simple, and inclusion in my view as a Dad, comes in the little things such as:

  • Talk don’t stare. It’s ok to be curious and ask question, so ask don’t stare.
  • Assume competence. In my experience Luke have a pretty good idea of what he can and can’t do. So assume competence, if he can’t do he will say, and in doubt go back to the 1st punk rule “Thou shalt not be an asshole”. Well, that is Rirou experience.
  • Age appropriate. Talk to them age appropriate.
  • Look for the similarities. You don’t know how to start? Start by the fact that we are all humans.
  • Don’t block ramps. Yeah, is 2020 and this shit still happens.
  • Park in between the white lines. Again, that still happens in 2020.

That is a good start, and that is the 3rd Rock-it-ology punk rule. Rirou wrote a little small book about inclusion, called the sun. Read below.

Day 28 of 40 – Always look at the bright side of life

One thing Rirou learned in life through out his case of the Mondays was, to look at the bright side of life. After the priest accused Rirou for smoking too much weed, and said that his soul was going to burn in a lake of fire for the rest of eternity; Rirou did the only thing he knew to do, he decided to challenged the status quo.

Rirou went skateboarding and decided to try marijuana, and he end up having the biggest spiritual experience of his life. Plus that day he skate like he had never skate before. Seems like he was possessed to skate, but the most important part of that experience was that Rirou though what if the devil is like the Tasmanian devil cartoon? completely crazy, energetic, intense, with a sense of humor and a big heart? what if hell is a place with lost of rock and roll, beer, weed and skateboarding?

On that same night Rirou went to a punk rock concert at the beach, and he got to the mosh pit, and he never felt so alive in his life. That experience blew Rirou’s mind. After the show Rirou lay down at the beach and looked to the moon and thought “Well I guess I am going to hell in all Religions, so maybe the devil and I can become friends”.

Rirou kept that for himself, and he did what he was thought to and buried his feelings, the good, the bad and the ugly feelings. With time and therapy Rirou started to realize that maybe people were just afraid to feel good. He knew he was afraid to feel good, after all, that was a sin (based of the collective matrix), but Rirou realized that there is another side of the story, so he thought if Religion claims to have the truth, and there is another side of the story; therefore Religion can easily be lying.

So, what if there is no sin? If life is how you feel, and in order to feel joy you also need feel the rest (the good, the bad and the ugly), is just part of life. During the ironman cozumel in 2011 Rirou was the marathon part, and he was in hell. Literally, it had rain and it was 95 featherweights, and smoke was coming out of the asphalt. Rirou was in bad shape and his mind was going crazy; with the angel telling him to stop, but Taz (the devil) showed up that day and whispered “you should face the pain and keep going”. Rirou started to run again and he had another insight and thought “If I keep running at 8 min pace I will finish faster and pain will end quick. If I keep walking at 16 min pace the pain is the same but it will take me double the time to finish, and if I quit the pain (a different kind of pain) will least even longer.” So he ran and finish the race as his second best Ironman time ever.

Rirou realized that day that the devil was his friend after all. That day Rirou realized it does not matter in how much shit you are in, there is always a bright side. It all depends on how you look at it, and Rirou was right when in hell become friends with the devil and from that day on, Rirou started to look at the bright side of life.

Does not matter how much shit you are in, there is always a bright side to it, even if it is a lesson. And that is the Rock-it-ology second punk rule!

Feel Good,

Rirou

Day 27 of 40 – Thou shalt not be an asshole

Rirou’s walk through the COVID – 420 isolation continues to get deeper and deeper. When Rirou had the commandments insight he need to elaborate more, and thankfully being a smart ass is still allowed; otherwise he would have to shut up for the rest of his life. Yes, sarcasm and irreverence is a form of self defense, something Rirou learned very early on to protect his energy. Since been a smart ass is still allowed in his Religion, Rirou wanted to call punk rules instead of commandments, since that is much more ironic.

The reality is at one point in life we are all assholes, because is impossible to please everyone. When Rirou created his first Religion, the ganja witness he was indeed being an asshole, but that religion went bankrupted. Rirou thought he was the only person in the world that bankrupted a Religion, but then he remembered a guy once bankrupted a casino and became president. So, Rirou thought maybe he can president one day, who knows? But the way Rirou is, he would probably want to created his own country, like the Vatican. Yeah, maybe one day Rock-it-ology will have their own country, but for now Rirou is happy with a Religion.

Any ways, back to the first punk rule, “Thou shalt not be an asshole”, is quite a simple rule. The most important part is not being an asshole with thyself, which reflects in the outside (inside matrix is connected with the outside), but also not being an asshole with the the little things in life. Those little things will be address in the not so fashion show section on “how not to be an asshole”, that goes together with the interviews on the “a case of the Mondays” on the same show.

The goal in life is to develop beyond the stage of an asshole!

Mean while the collective matrix is going crazy, as of now there is a possibility that a conspiracy theory might no longer be a theory. With the mass confusion due to the Corona Virus assholes are coming to light and showing their assholeness, and seems like Facebook is the new civil war…

Feel Good,

Rirou
